Greetings, Garden Greats!

Oh, what a soggy forecast we’ve had . . . the rain has been great for our town but indeed put a damper on our planting plans.  Please take note that Garden Day has been rescheduled for Sunday, October 7th 10:00 AM - NOON.  Take care of those little seedlings and we’ll be sure to get them in the ground next weekend!

Scholarship & Fundraising News 🎊
Scholarship considerations for the upcoming semester will close October 15th.  If you or anyone you know would like to apply please refer them to our website before the deadline.

Fall Fund Drive is here!  Staff community will begin submitting donations now through mid-October.  On October 15th we will announce staff participation totals and open donation opportunities to our parent community. The Fund Drive will extend until November 30th.

Our annual Fall Fund Drive raises essential dollars to be put towards materials and grounds upkeep for the year ahead as well as supporting expansion projects.  Our classrooms depend on the success of this drive to continue serving our children at a quality standard.  This year, in order to help us reach our goal of $25,000, we are adding a grand finale act: on November 29th at Vuka Collective we will be hosting an upscale, adults-only party with cocktail dining, dancing, drinks and a silent auction to boot! This "Farm to Fork” themed event is sponsored by Impact Hub and hosted by Gather Venues of Austin.  We couldn’t be more excited about our inaugural year of implementing a community-driven event like this and are looking forward to celebrating its success with all of you!

Tickets are on sale now on our home page and we encourage you to take advantage of Early Bird pricing that is in place until October 15th.  If you or your locally-owned business are interested in sponsorship opportunities, please contact our Parent Fundraising Chair, Amina Garrison, at am@aminamichele.com for more information.

Parent Ed 👪
Don’t miss our Toileting and Your Toddler talk in Studio 7 from 10:15 - 11:30 AM this Wednesday, October 3rd.  Yours truly will give you history, hard science, resources and step by step instructions on how to introduce the toilet to your youngster.  This is an adults-only event and is appropriate for parents and educators working with children under the age of 4.  We strongly suggest at least one parent of any child enrolled under the age of 3 attend in order to support the cohesion of independent toileting both at home and at school.  See you there!

Enrollment for our 2nd fall Parent - Tot Series with Ms. Phoebe is now open.  If you or anyone you know is itching for insight and advice on the psyche of the 3 and under child this class is the one to take.  Even if you have attended before, new questions may be coming up about your growing tot or his/her sibling, making it a great time to enroll again!  This series is paired with an evening Q&A for parents only to complement the parent/child interactive morning classes. Enroll here

October Birthdays 👻🎂

IMPORTANT REMINDERS - Please read!
  • Refrain from sending your child to school with a backpack or other luggage.  We prefer children come to school carrying 1) a sealed and insulated lunchbox in one hand and 2) JG tote containing his/her leak-free, stainless steel water bottle and any labeled clothing.  Thank you for supporting this request that gives our community a uniform feel and offers a manageable system of independence to our students.
  • We support a culture of saving Halloween costumes for after-school hours; please refrain from sending your child to school in costume this month and continue to refer to our Parent Handbook for guidelines on healthy, treat-free lunch options.  Please save all Halloween candy for at-home enjoyment.
  • Parents, encourage your children to play in the fenced front area of 1700 S 3rd Street while waiting for arrival or after pick up.  We want everyone to stay safe while friends connect during transition times.  Thank you!

Enjoy these candids and we look forward to seeing everyone at Garden Day next weekend!

- Ms. K & the Administration Team

Ready for Outside Time!  The YCC children are ready to head to the garden and assist Ms. Teri with chicken feeding. Maxwell says a happy hello to his Main House friends on the other side of the fence.

The Hay House has surely been having fun with Ms. Natalie during their weekly Music Lessons. Later, we see Varenna and Vivian focusing intently on their fine motor work.

We learn with The Carrot Seed how a plant grows during our Garden Lesson, then head to the Garden to do our own hands-on research.

Later, Orion and Elijah enjoy watering the tiny seedlings they have planted and will watch then grow, getting ready for Garden Day!

First we pick it, then we bake it!  Above, the children get busy making seasonally delicious applesauce bread with garden herbs for Snack Time.

Ms. Natalie gives Casa a Garden Lesson on sunflowers and the children delight in sharing these treasures with their Guide, Ms. Danielle.

Main House kids having fun dressing up in Early Arrival, what a way to start the day!  Later, Ms. Courtney teaches us a new song during Spanish class.

Above, we see a traditional birthday circle celebrated in the Main House (Happy Bday, Ella!) and Findlay shows off his knowledge of Solar System studies.

Outside we are always having a ball!  Good friends, new and old, coming together the first month of school for outside play results in a happy start to each day.

Aiden and Ellis welcome us to the 1st Community Singalong of the year and good vibes were felt by all.
